Energy saving measures are on everyone’s lips. Despite the high level of awareness, there is a great lack of understanding of the physical mechanisms behind these measures, which often leads to a wrong focus on measures that are not effective. With this project, we want to combine awareness and understanding in order to derive the right measures.
Our first step is to create and collect short video clips promoting an energy saving measure. For this action, we have created the Video Challenge.
In the Video Challenge, everyone on campus (University of Twente, ROC van Twente, and Saxion) is invited to contribute with a short video teaser in TikTok style. The action promoted in the video should be easy to remember and presented in an engaging format.
For each video contribution used on our energy saving trail, you will receive a financial compensation of €50. In addition, prizes will be awarded to the three best videos.

The extended deadline is January 31, 2023, to give you time to get creative over Christmas. There is no limit to the number of video entries that individuals or teams can submit. To be eligible for the contest, you must sign a rights transfer agreement, that we will send you, and avoid to harm any copyrights (music, showing product labels, etc.)

After the Video Challenge, we will work together with students from the Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer courses to adequately quantify the proposed measures. This quantification can be achieved by
- Considering fundamental energy balances
- Literature review
- Own experiments at home
- Numerical simulations
